Event capacity and sold out

Set a capacity

1. Open the event and select Edit event.
2. Fill in Maximum Capacity: the most tickets you’ll sell, across all ticket types. Leave it empty for no limit.
3. Select Update Event.

Tickets that are confirmed or awaiting payment count. A cancelled ticket frees its place.

Two kinds of cap

• Maximum Capacity caps the whole event.
• Total Available on a ticket type caps that type. See Ticket types.

Sales stop at whichever is reached first. Buyers can’t pick more tickets than there are places left.

When the event shows Sold out

Your pages show Sold out when:

• the event reaches its Maximum Capacity, or
• no ticket type can be bought, and at least one has hit its cap or is set to Sold out.

Pausing sales doesn’t make an event sold out. Paused types show Sales temporarily paused.

Going over on purpose

Issuing tickets by hand ignores both caps. You’ll be told when you go over, and the event or type then shows as sold out.
